Sign for mystery Cycle Route

NCN route 11 (and in the distance a cut-through to the East Cambs Council car park)

It's not clear if this on-road or a shared-use footway.

The Hovis Natiional Byway leaving Ely

This cycle route sign is curiously placed about 10 metres away from the actual cycle route which runs to the left and right behind me and directly behind. This track is not designated for cycling.

National Cycle Network signage in Reach - also note sign for short section of byway behind.

This sign has become more international since the 2005 picture of it. #8349

''Cyclists Dismount' - well, arguably if you want to cross the road, but certainly not to continue on National Cycle Network route 51 around the corner to the left.

The cycle route to Newmarket from here is a quiet 15 miles one way, or 6 miles on busy roads the other way. http://www.samuelfrench.co.uk/p/1572/my-friend-miss-flint

NCN51 route signs

More NCN51 signage. "End of Route" really means "route crosses road here".

It's not immediately obvious what NCN51 does here (it takes a detour up Heath Road to avoid the bends on the main road.)
