A cut-through to the station car park would be useful here.

Dead-end path west from Ely Leisure Village

Gate and bypass on the shared-use path parallel to the A10 Ely bypass

Entertaining - but what happens when a disabled driver turns up?

This would be a useful modal filter if there was a dropped kerb.

Parking restrictions are needed at this modal filter.

A shame the dropped kerb isn't aligned with the cut-through

There really should be a link from the B1382 to this isolated new development

Surely it would be sensible to put in a proper connection?

Barriers on a cut-through (not shown on online mapping)

Barriers at the start of a shared-use route, Ely

Absurd gap in the footway - pedestrians and cyclists clearly carry on on the grass.

Toucan crossing and pointless barriers - with a huge space to avoid them

Shared-use footway - dropped kerb needed

There could be a connection to NCN route 11 here, but there's a bit of a ditch in the way. The new cycle bridge by the Ely Southern Bypass has been built to be as isolated as possible from the surrounding area.

The Ely Southern Bypass and the cycle bridge are designed to be totally isolated from each other.

This bridge now seems to be missing.

Barriers force pedestrians and cyclists through a narrow gap and make it difficult to keep children on the pavement.

Difficult to get through this gate at the end of Summer

The area around Ely cathedral could be opened up for cycling.

Both my husband and myself are in our mid 60s and quite regularly cycle between Isleham, which is where we live, and Fordham and Soham. As the off-road cycle tracks are few and far between we have to use the road. I would suggest that 85 ... [more]

New cycle routes: I would like to see a cycle path established between Stretham and Little Thetford alongside the A10. This would then mean that we could safely ride all the way to Ely and back. At the moment, that piece of the A10 is a dea ... [more]

Overgrown shared use cycle path between Lode and Bottisham. Note the thistles, and in other places nettles extending into the path. Given the narrowness of the path, us both cycling from school in shorts can result in stings! This path is a ... [more]

Overgrown shared use cycle path between Bottisham Village College and Lode crossroads. The path is narrow at the best of times, but this makes it harder. Also there are thistles and nettles growing out into the path at various points, whic ... [more]

After checking that the roadworks were really not operational we moved this sign clear of the cycle path. Reach Fair Reconnaissance ride - 2010

This great little path, serving the housing between the A10 and Witchford Rd, is marred by these dreadful barriers. These will stop a trailer bike or child trailer and are a pain for all users. Replace with simple bollards.

New path feeding housing development. Needs a gap in the fence here though to give access to these houses without having to jump the rail or go up and back down again.

The eastern half of the byway is unsurfaced, rutted and overgrown.

Substandard width narrowed further by vegetation. Widen path.

An ideal foot / cycle path into the Lancaster Way Business Park, but fenced off ! As well as removal of the fence, this needs a dropped kerb and a refuge (3m wide to accomodate trailer bikes) to allow cyclists to cross the A142 safely in ... [more]

A perfect foot / cycle link that joins the A142 opposite the Byway to Ely. But fenced off - why ? Lancaster Way business park.

Looking towards the Marina from the bridge over Swaffham Bulbeck Lode

The obstructions on the approach to the bridge over Swaffham Bulbeck Lode. The bicycles exclusion seems to have been crossed out on the sign here, and other signs nearby.

Closure expected for at least 6 months while this derailment is fixed, and the bridge rebuilt.

A disastrous derailment has closed this invaluable walking and cycling route between Barway and Ely on NCN11.

Hand over all your carrots if you want to get through! (The National Trust's Konig ponies are supposed to be wild, but they're getting street-wise.)

Many of the old stiles on Fen Rivers Way along the Cam have been replaced by these gates. (Note that this is officially a footpath only and it's illegal to ride a bike along it.)

Wicken Fen entrance. This gate is needed because of the Wild Horses.
